CJ3 — Refurbished Throughout
This Cessna Citation CJ3 arrived with its cabin already decided: a well-kept interior, chosen by its previous owner. The new owner, a pilot who flies the aircraft himself, lived with it for a while before reaching his verdict. There was nothing wrong with the cabin. It simply was not his.
The owner also knew where to turn. Years earlier, AeroVisto had refurbished the cabin of his Citation Mustang — an interior he never grew tired of in all the years he flew the aircraft, and one its next owner appreciated as well once the Mustang had changed hands. It was reason enough for him to call again.
Everything, Including the Panels
The scope took shape in Altenrhein, where AeroVisto inspected the aircraft and the client made a first selection with samples at hand. It was to be everything: the seats and the bulkheads, the ceiling and the carpet, the wooden elements and, not least, the sidewall panels, which in a cabin this compact decide whether a refurbishment reads as complete. For the wooden elements, tables included, the client chose Decor Film Application.
The final selection followed on a second visit and was settled the same day. Within ninety minutes, the rendering showed the whole cabin in the client’s materials — the aircraft as it was going to be, before a single seat had been touched.
Orange Stitching on the Glareshield
The finished cabin is bright and coherent from front to back. A light, warm stone-toned leather covers the seats, their backrests and cushions stitched tone-on-tone in a pattern of elongated hexagons — a honeycomb, more texture than ornament — while the headrest covers are finished with a double stitch. The same leather returns on the side-facing seat beside the entrance cabinet, on the aft and lavatory bulkheads, and as the inlay of the tables.
The sidewall panels are covered in sand-colored Alcantara®, and above them the off-white of windowliners and headliner opens the compact cabin upward. Underfoot, a light gray-beige carpet runs the length of the cabin and into the aft lavatory.
Against all this lightness, the wooden decor sets a matte, dark accent — on the cabinet front and drawers at the entrance, along the side ledges, around the tables, and on the divider to the cockpit. It is what keeps a bright cabin from looking weightless.
The cockpit received the same care: seats in leather with bone-colored sheepskin, the lower sidewall panel in leather, headliner and windowliner freshly painted, and a reupholstered curtain that takes up the off-white of the cabin ceiling. The glareshield is finished in anthracite Alcantara® with orange accent stitching.
Four Weeks in a Summer Window
The refurbishment had been planned for November. AeroVisto proposed an earlier date, and a summer downtime in Linz at the end of July made it possible: four weeks in the workshop, and the aircraft was back in the air on schedule.
Carsten Matthiesen, Managing Director of AeroVisto, handed it over in Linz himself. He had been part of the project since the first conversation, and that is how AeroVisto works: whoever begins a project with a client sees it through to the handover. AeroVisto calls it one face to the customer.
For its owner, the cabin is now »his« down to the last stitch — including the orange one on the glareshield, which hardly anyone but the owner-pilot will ever notice. It is there for his own pleasure, and nothing in this aircraft says more clearly that the cabin is now truly his.
