Excellence Beyond Boundaries
The Perfect Canvas
The Bombardier Global XRS stands as one of aviation’s most distinguished ultra-long-range aircraft, renowned for its exceptional performance and generous cabin architecture. With its sophisticated systems and spacious interior dimensions, the Global XRS provides an ideal foundation for comprehensive transformation projects — offering the structural capabilities and space necessary to accommodate even the most ambitious design visions while maintaining the operational excellence that defines this flagship aircraft.
When AeroVisto was approached through our relationship with Bombardier UK, the project offered a unique opportunity to realize an exceptional design vision that would push the boundaries of traditional aircraft interior transformation. The ambitious scope of this comprehensive redesign would require careful certification management and advanced technical expertise to gain regulatory approval for such an innovative concept.
Shalini Misra’s Visionary Concept
The creative direction was already established by the designer team of Shalini Misra, the renowned London-based interior design studio, celebrated for its sophisticated approach to luxury spaces. Shalini Misra’s vision was nothing short of revolutionary: a complete transformation that would honor traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern aviation requirements.
Rather than pursuing conventional aircraft interior aesthetics, Shalini Misra envisioned a harmonious celebration of global artisanal excellence. Their design philosophy centered on bringing together master craftsmen from around the world — from hand-painted wallpaper artisans to traditional carpet weavers — creating an environment where every surface would tell a story of cultural richness and artistic heritage.
The scope was ambitious in its breadth and depth. Instead of standard refurbishment, this would be a complete renaissance of the cabin interior, where every surface, every material, and every detail would be carefully reimagined and renewed. Shalini Misra’s approach demanded that the aircraft become not merely transportation, but a curated artistic environment that passengers would experience as a journey through craftsmanship traditions from multiple continents.

Artisanal Mastery Across Continents
Design Philosophy & Global Collaboration
Working in close collaboration with Shalini Misra Design, AeroVisto developed a comprehensive approach that ensured every element would meet both aesthetic aspirations and aviation standards. This collaborative framework allowed Shalini Misra’s creative vision to flourish while maintaining the technical rigor essential for aircraft certification.
The project’s scope required coordination with master craftsmen across multiple continents, each contributing specialized skills essential to realizing the comprehensive vision. AeroVisto managed this international network carefully, ensuring precise timing, quality standards, and aviation certification requirements throughout the complex supply chain.
Weekly communication sessions with the aircraft owner established transparent collaboration that enabled real-time decision-making and design refinement. This direct engagement proved invaluable as design elements evolved and technical solutions were developed, ensuring the final outcome would exceed even the most ambitious initial expectations.
Heritage Reimagined Through Innovation
Hand-Painted Wallpaper Excellence
At the heart of Shalini Misra’s vision lay a unique artistic element: custom hand-painted wallpaper that would transform the cabin’s bulkheads and doors into narrative art pieces. Collaborating with De Gournay, one of the world’s leading wallpaper manufacturers, Shalini Misra’s team created bespoke panels featuring detailed scenes that conveyed stories of cultural richness and artistic heritage.
The technical challenge was remarkable. Each panel required precise measurement using advanced laser technology to ensure a perfect fit within the aircraft’s complex geometry. AeroVisto coordinated closely with the design team to capture every curve, every angle, and every cutout for screens and fixtures. The wallpaper elements, measuring up to eight feet in length, were crafted as unique artistic pieces that could never be replicated.
Installation required bringing specialist craftsmen directly to our facility, where they applied their expertise to mount these artistic treasures with precision. The result transformed the cabin environment, surrounding passengers with hand-painted artistry that created an atmosphere of refined luxury.

A Hand-Knotted Masterpiece
Perhaps the most ambitious element of Shalini Misra’s vision was a custom hand-knotted carpet crafted by master weavers in India, working with Jaipur Rugs, one of the country’s most respected manufacturers. Shalini Misra’s design requirements called for an elegant pattern in soft, harmonious colors that would enhance the cabin’s overall aesthetic.
The creation process demanded patience and traditional skill, as artisans used time-honored looms to produce the intricate knotting that gives these carpets their renowned appearance and tactile quality. The finished piece would serve as the cabin’s central design anchor, providing both visual warmth and exceptional comfort underfoot.
Installation presented unique challenges, as the hand-knotted nature of the carpet, with its fiber structure, required specialized mounting techniques. Working closely with a specialist craftsman from Jaipur Rugs, the team developed installation methods that respected the carpet’s handcrafted nature while ensuring secure, aviation-grade mounting throughout the cabin.
Marquetry Mastery
Exquisite marquetry work from England, created by Simon Orrell, showcased traditional wood inlay techniques that produced detailed patterns for table surfaces and credenza tops. These pieces required weeks of meticulous handcrafting, with each element precisely cut and fitted to form sophisticated geometric and floral designs that became functional art within the cabin environment. AeroVisto coordinated the complex international logistics, managing the secure shipment of cabin components to England for enhancement and ensuring their safe return, seamlessly integrating these delicate handcrafted elements into the project timeline.

Precision Craftsmanship Meets Modern Aviation
Advanced Surface Solutions
Complementing the artistic wallpaper, the design called for the complete transformation of all wood surfaces throughout the cabin. Rather than traditional veneer, the designers selected advanced decor film technology that would provide the warmth and beauty of natural wood grain while offering superior durability and maintenance characteristics essential for aviation use.
Over 135 linear meters of premium film material were applied with meticulous precision, creating seamless surfaces that maintain their beauty over years of operation. The warm, honey-toned finish created perfect visual harmony with the artistic wallpaper elements, establishing cohesive design flow throughout the cabin space.
Comprehensive Upholstery
Shalini Misra’s design philosophy represented a fundamental shift in the approach to aircraft interiors. Rather than following conventional methods that primarily rely on wood veneer and painted surfaces, she envisioned an interior where upholstery would become the dominant design language throughout the cabin.
This comprehensive upholstery approach transformed the aircraft into what could genuinely be called “a real upholstery project” — where fabric and leather applications went far beyond traditional seating areas to include monument faces, cabinet fronts, and architectural elements throughout the cabin.
The credenza received comprehensive upholstery treatment, with leather-covered door fronts featuring precise stitching details and coordinated material combinations. Cabinet faces throughout the cabin were similarly transformed, moving away from traditional hard surfaces to create a unified upholstered environment that improved both acoustics and visual appeal.
The seating transformation exemplified Shalini Misra’s dedication to upholstery excellence. Each of the seven individual seats features a sophisticated multi-material approach, combining premium leather selections with precise diamond stitching patterns. The design incorporated three distinct leather types — cream tones for primary surfaces, warm caramel accents for armrests and details, and elegant blue-gray elements for piping and contrast details.
The seat construction process required complete foam replacement and recertification, ensuring that the new upholstery design met strict aviation safety standards while providing exceptional comfort. Custom cushioning systems were developed to support the diamond stitching patterns while maintaining the ergonomic performance expected in luxury aviation seating.
Sophistication Defined in Every Detail
Refined Details
Shalini Misra’s attention to detail extended to every visible element, including the selection of navy blue seat belts that matched the custom entrance step materials. This careful color coordination created visual harmony that transformed even functional elements into design statements.
Custom curtains with delicate embroidered details provided privacy while adding layers of artistic refinement. All metal components throughout the cabin received premium polished nickel plating, creating a refined finish that maintains its appearance over years of use. Custom embroidery added artistic details throughout the cabin, with specialized craftsmen creating floral motifs and intricate patterns that enhanced the hand-painted wallpaper themes.

Stone & Surface Excellence
Shalini Misra’s selection of Calacatta Oro marble for the entrance, galley, lavatory, and crew rest areas marked another achievement in turning vision into reality. This stunning natural stone, with its white base and subtle gray veining, provided an elegant foundation for the cabin’s luxury aesthetic, creating visual cohesion that enhanced the sense of space throughout the aircraft. The forward crew rest area features a unique layout for a Bombardier Global XRS — yet, the refined material palette extends seamlessly into this space, maintaining design consistency while offering crew members an environment that matches the main cabin’s luxury standards.
AeroVisto collaborated closely with specialized stone fabricators to ensure accurate measurement and cutting, with installation carefully coordinated around the cabin’s complex systems and layout. Complementing the marble work, premium solid surface countertops in a refined sand-toned finish were made for the galley and lavatory, with the forward bathroom featuring a built-in sink that blends seamlessly into the countertop surface.
Standards Elevated Through Partnership
Certification Excellence
Every design decision required careful coordination between Shalini Misra’s aesthetic vision and aviation certification standards. Working closely with the design team, AeroVisto ensured that creative elements would not only meet current requirements but also lay a foundation for long-term compliance and maintainability.
The project successfully achieved full CAA certification, confirming that all technical decisions made during the collaboration were valid. All modified seats received complete certification approval, verifying that the new foam systems and upholstery met strict aviation safety standards while maintaining design integrity.

Transformed Reality
This cabin transformation accomplished something truly remarkable — a complete visual and experiential metamorphosis where no trace of the original interior was left. Every surface, every material, and every detail was carefully renewed through Shalini Misra Design’s vision and AeroVisto’s precise execution.
The project’s success shows how luxury interior designers and aviation specialists can reach outstanding results when creative vision meets technical mastery. This achievement required seamless coordination among specialized partners: Shalini Misra’s creative leadership, AeroVisto’s certified craftsmanship, MaceAero’s meticulous asset and project management, and Catreus providing operational oversight throughout the complex process.
The partnership proves that successful large-scale aviation projects need more than innovative design and technical skill — they require expert project coordination and operational knowledge aligned toward a shared vision.
The completed aircraft showcases what becomes possible when visionary design combines with precise engineering — creating experiences that honor traditional craftsmanship while meeting the exacting demands of modern aviation. Passengers now enjoy luxury travel as an artistic journey, surrounded by elements that celebrate global artisanship traditions while adhering to the highest standards of aviation safety and performance.
